When the family holiday destination is Pitztal

Considering that the school summer holiday is quite short in Switzerland, the schedule is jam-packed and every vacation day, every vacation minute – really counts. If you make plans and your family holiday destination is Pitztal, we can ensure you, you will get the most fun-and memories-out of your family vacation as well as experience the nature of the Alps at its best. We just spent a few days in Pitztal and it was beyond amazing, we had never experienced anything like this before.

Pitztal is one of the most beautiful valleys in Austrian Tyrol that has a lot to offer for families with children not only in winter but also in summer: 380km hiking roads, 2 adventure parks, water playgrounds, carts and motorbikes, climbing and horse riding, trips to Rifflesee, waterfalls, and of course, to the Pitztaler Gletscher. Among a wide palette of accommodation, there are 4 family hotels with a child care possibility. There is a weekly summer program for kids of different ages offered by the Pitztal Tourismus.

A tip: consider to buy the Pitztal Leisure Pass at just 5EUR/Person to benefit from the all-inclusive offer and to involve your kids in the summer program free of charge.

 

We stayed in one of the family hotels – Hotel Stefan, and what we did in Pitztal was just a tiny bit of something you can do and see there, but it was enough to build memories that will last a lifetime. Our 6yo had the chance to climb the real mountain rocks and to drive the real carts through the mountains. As a family, we spend one day splashing in the water park Pitz Park in Wenns and one day at Zirben Park on top of the mountain with the views of the valley of Pitztal spread out below us. The biggest highlight was, of course, our trip to the Pitztaler Gletscher and lunch at the Cafe 3.400 which is the highest cafe in Austria. It was also amazing to meet Sepp, the cafe manager and the local glacier expert who told us about the place and the surrounding mountains, one part of which happened to be the Bernina mountains where we had travelled this summer. He also told us about how fast the glacier has changed in the last years. What was also interesting is to discover that the skiing season at the Pitztaler Gletscher starts already on the 15th of September. Just crazy to think that in only a month there will be built a fun park for kids and apreski for grown-ups, and the glacier will bring the magic and fun of winter to everyone.
