Sometimes life can get really busy with work, responsibilities and challenges, and if this happens during the summer school holiday, it`s especially annoying. So when we finally decided to pause and take a break, we knew we needed more than just a getaway. We needed a true family escape to some kind of “paradise”, a place where everyone could get some needed rest, reconnect, and have some fun together as a family and by ourselves, forgetting all the stress.
To be honest, Familienparadies Sporthotel Achensee in Tyrol (Austria) had been on my bucket list for some time already. I first noticed it on social media, and the name “Family Paradise” instantly made me curious. It sounded exactly like the kind of place we were dreaming about. So when we got the opportunity to visit the hotel with our blog, I was beyond excited. The hotel looked exactly like what we needed, and we were so happy to discover that it didn’t just meet our expectations, it exceeded them.
From the moment we arrived at Familienparadies Sporthotel Achensee, we felt like we could finally exhale. The spacious family room, delicious food, and beautifully designed interior made us feel spoiled in the best possible way. Add to that plenty of indoor and outdoor activities, a wonderful kids club, plenty of nature, and a soothing spa area, and we had absolutely nothing to worry about thanks to their all-inclusive concept.
There are so many highlights worth sharing, but here are the ones that truly stood out for us:
1. The Ultimate Playrooms
Our children’s absolute favourite spot was the Ninja Warrior playroom, not just a themed space, but a real obstacle course that felt like the TV show brought to life. It’s packed with fun stations that challenge their balance, speed, and courage, and of course gave them the chance to compete with each other and new friends they made along the way. It was nearly impossible to convince them to leave!
Additionally, the hotel features a massive Kids Club (approximately 700 square meters) and several indoor and outdoor playgrounds, as well as indoor pools (including a natural mini lake in summer) and dedicated rooms for different age groups, ranging from toddlers to teens. Every day, the little guests were provided with fun and engaging activities. The friendly staff made sure the kids were always having a great time, giving us parents the chance to enjoy some quiet moments at the spa.
2. The Large Family Rooms
I`m obsessed with hotels’ interiors and service, and this is what I personally loved about Familienparadies Sporthotel Achensee. Their rooms are thoughtfully designed with families in mind – extra spacious, cosy, modern and practical. We loved the natural Alpine-inspired style with warm wood tones and plenty of space for all our things (a rare find for family travel!). Waking up to mountain views every morning felt like a dream.
3. The Delicious Food
One of the best parts of the stay was definitely the food. The all-inclusive dining was both delicious and varied, offering fresh local dishes, healthy options, and plenty of kid-friendly meals. It wasn’t some typical self-service buffet; instead, it felt like dining at a beautifully set restaurant every day. Each meal was a new culinary treat, from hearty breakfasts to indulgent desserts, and it made everything so much easier knowing we didn’t have to worry about meals or snacks at all.
4. Summer Adventures Await
In summer, the hotel transforms into a family adventure hub with a natural mini lake, a fun water slide, and plenty of nearby trails for unforgettable hikes, and the lake Achensee is just a walk away. The kids can even join exciting summer camps, such as horse riding, golf or soccer, keeping them active, happy, and entertained throughout the entire season.
5. Ski-In, Ski-Out Family Fun
What we also learned is that in winter, the hotel is a skier’s dream. Located right at the ski lift, it’s incredibly easy to get on the slopes with kids. Everything is set up to make a family skiing holiday smooth, fun, and stress-free, from ski storage to convenient rentals and even lessons for the little ones. The local ski area stretches over about 30 km of slopes, offering plenty of gentle runs for beginners as well as more challenging slopes for those who are more advanced in skiing. For us, this alone makes Familienparadies Sporthotel Achensee an incredible winter destination.
Our stay at Familienparadies Sporthotel Achensee gave us exactly what we were looking for – a carefree, fun, and nourishing break in the mountains. If you’re a family craving a true reset, the kind where everyone’s needs are met, this is the place to go!
