If you are a new mom or a mom to be, I envy you a little. Not only for the incredible joy of having a little baby but also for all those improved baby products that recently have arrived on the market. Like, for example, the new Béaba Babycook Néo which is so much better than any baby food cooking machine we knew before. Sometimes I only wish I had it when my children were little.
I`m not healthy obsessed but I`m trying to cook as healthy as possible avoiding plastic materials. This what makes the Béaba Babycook Néo so special to me is that it`s the only baby cooker that has a glass bowl and a stainless steel steam basket. It steams and blends in a way that your baby gets the maximum amounts of nutrients and a correct consistency your baby food. To cook in this baby food maker couldn’t be simpler, it turns off automatically when the food is ready. It can steam cook, blend, reheat and defrost, and for that, it needs just a little bit of water. And I think, it looks really nice in the kitchen.
My children (7 and 2) are not babies anymore but I still take advantage of the baby food processor. I can’t tell you how much I’ve been relying on cream soups and freshly cooked vegetables to get all their nutrients and antioxidants to boost their immunity. In 15 minutes or less, I can make a super-charged breakfast, healthy smoothies and purée, cream soups or a fresh side dish on-the-go. It really is the perfect fuel for a busy mama. However, there is a bit of an art to getting the balance right for great tasting baby food. No kid wants to eat just vegetables. I came across this really easy recipe which is perfect for fuelling your big and little ones and sneaking a little extra goodness into them without them realising it. It’s perfect for freezing too, so you can keep it on hand for a super easy mid-week meal for the whole family.
Recipe (Please note, this recipe is not meant for children below 1 year old.):
1. potatoes
2. carrots
3. broccoli
4. zucchini
5. green beans
6. red lentils
7. 1 Tbsp olive oil
8. salt
Combine all ingredients in the Béaba Babycook Néo steamer basket. Pour water into the tank (level 3) and hit the steam button. Béaba Néo will signal when the ingredients are cooked (around 15min). Put all ingredients in the blending bowl. Add the salt and olive oil. Puree in the blender until the desired texture. Depending on your kids’ age serve with cream fresh and roasted salmon (chicken or meatballs).
