Finally, it`s time of the year when the excitement of Carnival (Fasnacht) infects the whole Switzerland. When your kids slowly enter into the spirit you might get a little nervous running out of ideas for Carnival costumes for kids this year. We went to the party store at Franz Carl Weber and found dozens of costumes to select from. We even have tried them on and rounded up our favourites for your viewing pleasure and inspiration with some useful tips.
The best sale Carnival costumes for kids in Switzerland, according to Franz Carl Weber:
- Pippi Langstrumpf (which is our most favorite one too)
- Clown
- Pirate (boys)
- Princess (girls)
- Cartoon animal characters
Here’s some tips for choosing the right Carnival outfit for your little one :
- Buying a costume at a store or creating your own, make sure it has a theme. It doesn’t need to be genius, but something that the kids will love to wear and be proud to show off.
- Enhance costumes with accessories, wigs, hats and face painting. Sometimes it’s hard to convince a kid to be a policeman or a princess, so if your child wants to look like a Halloween witch at Fasnacht, it’s totally fine for Carnival too.
- Wind, rain, even snow – make sure your kids are warm on the streets at street parades but don’t sweat when they go inside to the Masquerade party.
- Avoid costumes that can drag on the ground or block vision such as masks, floppy hats or eye patches.
- Don`t forget a little basket or a bag for Confetti and Bonbons.
