A family hotel? Why not a family hostel!

When looking for a family hotel in Switzerland you probably consider two things: the price and the family friendly factor. Not easy, isn’t it? Unless you think about an alternative, for example, a family hostel! We just had a splendid weekend with kids in Scuol at Schweizer Jugendherbergen hostel and discovered an easygoing, convenient and affordable way to travel as a family.

Swiss Youth Hostel is well known for a convenient sleeping accommodation for young people, school groups, families or other budget travellers. There are 52 locations in Switzerland and they all have different rates and accommodation conditions. The Schweizer Jugendherbergen hostel in Scuol is categorised as Top. It`s  very well located and has a cool modern architecture.

Nevertheless, it`s affordable. There are flat rates for kids, so a family with 2 children can expect to pay around CHF 160/night for a private room with toilet and shower. If you need a baby bed, you can have it totally free of charge!

What we absolutely loved about staying in the hostel is that it`s super sociable and kids friendly. There are toys and books, and several common areas where children different ages can run and play together, and burn some needed energy off. Its laid-back atmosphere helps kids to make new friends easily. Our 5yo said that besides bunk beds making friends was the best part of the trip!

The area of Scoul in Engadin is stunning and has so much to offer (90 different activities)! Here are just a few pictures from our family trip to Scuol and a really cool stay at Schweizer Jugendherbergen hostel. What a weekend! Thank you, Schweizer Jugendherbergen for organising this wonderful trip!

The best 3 playdough recipes for children

Just like many kids out there, my children love kneading, but just like many moms, I'm sceptical about the quality of playdough you can buy at stores. So looking for the best and healthy playdough recipes I have tested several, not to say all of them, and came to the conclusion that those 3 are the most silky and long… Read more

Let’s talk e-recycling in Switzerland with kids

I know “recycling” and “sustainability” seems to be something everyone is talking about. Bringing old electronic equipment to the disposal and separating paper and plastic in different bins, I thought I was doing something. It was until my 7y.o. daughter started asking questions. It's all started with the video she saw on her favourite kid`s channel (Link) where it was… Read more

    Glamping on top of Laax-Flims

Frankly, my husband and I are not into camping so much. Having had a few camping disasters in the past, we kind of put our camping plans off for now. However, we still believe camping is a great outdoor activity, especially fun when you have kids. About glamping we learned only this summer when we were lucky enough to get… Read more
