Family-friendly ski resort Kappl/See in Tyrol in test

When you look for a perfect ski resort for children, you probably look for convenient, affordable and quiet and save areas. We`ve been lucky to get invited to a press trip to the family-friendly ski resort Kappl and See in Austrian Tyrol. I and my 6yo had the most wonderful time meeting other families,  skiing with our groups and enjoying countless powder slopes, breathtaking mountain panoramas, and a delightful network of blue and red runs with trees and lovely trails.

Kappl and See are two cosy neighbour villages in Paznauntal near Ischgl. Almost all the houses of Kappl are built into the mountain which makes it a bit difficult to go up the hill or to stroll around, but there are several buses that can help you move around. On the contrary, the biggest part of See is located on a flatter area of the mountain. If you travel by car, you can always park your car right at the main lifts, which is great when you travel with kids. Besides hotels, almost every house offers a very comfortable and affordable accommodation (around 30 EUR / person).

Both Kappl and See have excellent and modern ski facilities for big and small. The ski kindergartens and nursery slopes are not in the village, they are up on the mountain and can be easily reached with the main lifts. Children from age three can join the resort’s ski school for outdoor activities or the childcare for indoor fun. The slopes of Kappl and See are generally very gentle and well-groomed and suit beginners and intermediates best. I think it is an ideal place to introduce snowboarding or skiing to your little ones and for you to have a totally relaxing time on slopes.

After our family trip to Kappl and See we went to St. Anton am Arlberg and by chance met a friend of a friend of ours from Holland. He told us that as a child he learned skiing in See and always had a great time with his family there. This just confirmed our impression of Kappl and See!
